For sale is the 50th Anniversary Edition of The Lord of the Rings by J. Tolkien, with A Readers Companion by Wayne G. This boxed set was published in 2005 by HarperCollins (UK) and is now out of print. It preceded the release of the 60th Anniversary Edition in 2014 which is still available new (the first printings thus for that set were the 6th, 6th and 5th printings respectively for The Lord of the Rings while A Readers Companion was updated to a new edition with a white dust-jacket). The sets are easily distinguished by the 50th Anniversary Edition statement in raised copper foil on the dust-jacket covers this was removed for the 60th Anniv.
