The Lord of the Rings, by J. Published by Harper Collins in 1991.

This is the Centenary Edition, three volume set, housed in the original Publisher's red slipcase. The books feature John Howe's Illustrations to the dust jackets.

Only one printing of this lovely hardback set was ever published unlike its more common paperback counterpart. The dust jackets feature some of John Howe's most famous illustrations, with a Gold Band to the top and bottom with the runes in black. All dust jackets in Near Fine condition with minor rubbing to the gold bands, virtually no loss of color, or fading to the red lettering on the spine, as so often found. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Tolkien stamped in gold to the two side panels and the Centenary device to the rear panel. The only very minor faults to this set are a couple of rubs to the edges and corners, a small scratch on the base and a small stain. An incredibly rare and virtually impossible to find set. A beautiful unmarked set bound in green cloth with title, author, publisher and Tolkien monogram in gold to the spines of the books.

No previous owners names or markings, none are price clipped, in lovely condition. An exceptional set of books, only one printing of these books were ever produced, making them nigh on impossible to find in this lovely Near Fine condition. All sensible offers will be considered.
